Creamy Sweet Potato Soup & Tahini Soup

This soup is packed with magnesium, fiber, and healthy fats, making it an excellent choice for soothing anxiety while also being warming and nourishing.

Serves 4



  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 small onion, diced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1-inch piece ginger, grated

  • ½ teaspoon cumin

  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon

  • 2 large sweet potatoes, peeled and diced

  • 1 quart vegetable broth

  • 2 tablespoon tahini

  • 1 tablespoon white miso paste

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

  • Optional Toppings: Toasted sesame seeds, roasted chickpeas, chopped cilantro, extra tahini drizzle


  1. In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes until translucent.

  2. Stir in garlic, ginger, cumin, and cinnamon. Cook for 1 more minute.

  3. Add the sweet potatoes and vegetable broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until potatoes are soft.

  4. Use an immersion blender (or transfer to a regular blender in batches) to blend until creamy.

  5. Mix in tahini, miso paste, and lemon juice until well combined.

  6. Ladle into bowls and drizzle with extra tahini, sesame seeds, chickpeas, or fresh herbs.
